Kai Goodall
I’m currently building liquid bipropellant rockets at
Waterloo Rocketry
and giving out microgrants to capital-constrained builders at
Merge Club
.
I turned down a $500 000 TC job offer in Silicon Valley to study Physics and Astronomy at the University of Waterloo.
In my free time, I shoot photos on film, go whitewater kayaking, downhill ski, and visit new coffee shops. My best time is spent working on a project I’m passionate about or trying something new with friends.
Over the past 3 years, I have...
-
Spent 6mo designing satellites at Canada’s biggest satellite company, Telesat (Grade 11 + 12)
-
Worked with executives at companies such as Amazon, Shell, and BenchSci to propose new products and internal tools, some of which are in use today
-
Started and shut down a deeptech startup trying to build sunglasses that could cure opioid addiction
-
Started an NGO in Tanzania to solve poverty with motorcycles, hired our first employee, and shut down after running a pilot and running out of funding
-
Raised grant capital to build a rocket engine
-
Deployed over $10 000 in microgrants
-
Moved to San Francisco for 3mo to build everything from open-source wearables to 3d printed fighter jets
-
Had a lot of fun and learned a lot :)
Over the next 3 years I hope to...
-
Build / work on a rocket that goes to space
-
Deploy $100 000 in microgrant capital
-
Have even more fun and learn even more :)
